dB's & Voltages Part 2

Reminder when you see a "/" it's a fraction. A "•" is multiplication and seeing a 2 after a letter means it's being squared.

Energy in Joules
W= energy used (joules)
Q= charge
V= voltage

W=Q•V

Power= Joules per second in Watt (W)
1W= 1 J/s

Capacitance in Farads (F)
C=capacitance (farads)
Q=charge
V=voltage

C=Q/V or Q=V•C

Capacitors
In Series: 1/Ct= 1/C1 + 1/C2 …
In Parallel: Ct= C1 + C2 …

Time constant in Tau (t)
L= inductance (henry)
R= Resistance (Ω)
t= C•R (for capacitors)

t=L/R

Kirchoff’s Law
Vin= input voltage
Vout= output voltage

Vout=Vin•R1/Rt

Reactance in Ω
Xc= Capacitive Reactance (Ω)
f= frequency (Hz)
C= capacitance (farads)

Xc= 1/2πfC

Inductance in Ω
Xl= inductive reactance (Ω)
f= frequency (Hz)
L= inductance (henry)

Xl= 2πfL

Impedance in Ω (Z)
Z= √R2 + Xc2
Z= √R2 + Xl2
Z= √R2 + (Xl + Xc)2
